The Sigri Plantation in the Waghi Valley in the Western Highlands province of Papua New Guinea was established in the 1950's. Sigri is considered one of the best gourmet coffee producers in the world. The plantations consist exclusively of Arabica coffee, with an emphasis on the Typica varieties. The seeds of these plants are originally from Jamaica and come from Blue Mountain Typica coffee trees. Sigri attaches great importance to environmental friendliness. The shade trees on the plantation provide habitat for at least 90 bird species.
